Suicide Awareness & Referral Training

Online Training

Online training is offered by the Washington State Pharmacy Association. The online training cost (with CE) is $45 for WSPA members and $90 for non-members.

Live Training

This training may be offered all over Washington in partnership with state associations, health systems, schools and pharmacies. This course is excellent in person, with opportunities to practice interventions and discuss this important topic with trainers and peers. Pricing is $75 for WSPA members and $125 for non-members. Future webinars or live courses will be posted to the WSPA calendar – please check there for training session dates/times that best fit your needs.

Describe pharmacy professionals’ role in suicide prevention

Educate all patients to make homes safer

Use the LEARN® steps to respond to suicide risk in personal and professional settings

Pharmacy professionals can play an important role in preventing suicide, overdoses and suicide attempts – creating safer homes. Washington state-licensed pharmacists are required to take a three-hour training which is approved by the Washington Department of Health

The training is the result of collaboration among members of the Safer Homes Coalition. Leading partners in development of the training were Forefront Suicide Prevention and the Washington State Pharmacy Association.
